A 36 year old man, Daniel Edet, has allegedly defiled his 11 year old step daughter in Lagos some days ago. Vanguard reports that the Daniel, the father of the little girl, whose name was concealed for future reasons, forcefully made love to her on August 9, 2014 at about 4:30pm at their residence, 8, Adisa Idowu Street, Ijegun area of Lagos. The case has however been taken to court, with the defendant facing a one-count charge preferred against him by the police, when he was docked before Magistrate E. B. Daodu in a Lagos Court. DS Etim Nkankum, who is the police prosecutor stood against the defendant, explaining and confirming that the offense was truly committed by the little girl’s father. DS Etim further made it known that, the offence is punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011. The defendant, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was however allowed a bail of N100,000 with one responsible surety in like sum. While adjourning the matter, the magistrate ordered that the surety must deposit N50,000 into the designated account of the chief registrar of the court, adding that the surety must show to court evidence of three years tax payable to Lagos State government. It would be recalled that just recently, five year old girl that was raped demanded for a gun to kill the suspect in a Lagos court.
